Nepal Pragya Pratisthan has organized a competitive National Poetry Festival, 2078 BS today on the occasion of its 64th foundation day. Inaugurating the program, which was organized virtually due to the risk of COVID-19, Ganga Prasad Upreti, Vice-Chancellor of the Foundation, recalled that the Foundation was born on the initiative and vision of the then King Mahendra Shah, great poet Laxmi Prasad Devkota and creator Bal Chandra Sharma.
Stating that poetic talent has been developing from the festival, he said that the award-winning poems will be published. Dr. Hemnath Poudel, head of the poetry department of the foundation, said that out of 764 poems received from home and abroad for the competition, the evaluation committee has selected 41 poems for recitation.
According to him, 10 marks have been fixed for reading. The results of the award will be made public this evening. The Foundation has been organizing Poetry Festival every year since 2022 BS, except in special situations.
