The film 'Mahanagar', which had its world premiere at the Kolkata Film Festival in India last year, has been selected for the Brooklyn Film Festival in the United States. The Creative producer of the film Nawanidhi Dahal has informed that the film will be premiered at the same festival. Out of 2500 films from 93 countries of the world, 'Mahanagar' has been selected for the festival.
This is the 24th edition of the festival. The festival will run from May 28 to June 6. The director of the film is Mohan Rai. Earlier, he had made 'Anjali' and short film 'Sakhi' based on the biography of the third gender Anjali Lama. He made his feature film debut in 'Mahanagar'. Starring actor Karma and actress Menuka Pradhan in the lead roles, the film tells the story of one night.
The story is about the change that a night brings to Karma and Menuka's lives, who are forced to spend the night together due to a small incident. The film also stars Anoj Pandey, Shovita Adhikari, Jeevan Baral, Parikshit Bikram Rana, and Chandra Pandey among others. Govinda Parajuli is the executive producer of the film written by director Mohan Rai himself.
Produced in collaboration with Mountain River Films under the banner of Middleway Films, the film has Narendra Mainali as the cinematographer, Sangam Panthi as the music director, and Parikshit Jha as the editor. Two Nepali films have already participated in the Brooklyn Film Festival. The short film 'Sari Soldiers' in 2009 and the short film 'Ananta Yatra' directed by Sunil Pandey in 2017 were selected for the festival.
