The contestant has alleged that there was sexual violence in Damak Municipality of Jhapa showing the temptation to win the beauty pageant. Ankita Baruwal, a 17-year-old contestant, has been accused of sexually harassing the organizers of the beauty pageant 'Mr and Miss College 2022'. Ankita is accused of sexually assaulting Lal Bahadur Shankar, the director of Shankar Arts Foundation.

During the training, Ankita said that she had been sexually assaulted saying, "If you want to win the competition, you should be close to me and what can you give for winning?" Organizer Shankar had organized the final event of the beauty pageant at Unique College in Damak on Sunday by gathering the contestants from different colleges of Jhapa and Morang from the first week of April. Raksha Thapa, a student of class 12 at Damak Multipurpose Campus and Diwas Uprety, a student of class 11 studying at Unique College Damak won the title of the competition with the participation of 13 contestants including nine girls and four boys.

Ankita, who even gave her presentation in the final, was eliminated from the first round. After the final, a tense situation was created between Ankita's family and the organizers. The two sides clashed after Ankita interrogated the choreographer of the competition and Shankar's wife showing screenshots. A few days later, Ankita and her family went to the Area Police Office, Damak to register a complaint. Ankita's family and friends lodged a written complaint with the police on Wednesday afternoon, said DSP Dilip Giri of Area Police Office Damak. According to him, investigation into the incident has been started after the complaint was lodged and Shankar has been called for questioning on Monday.
