Hymns Shiromani Bhakta Raj Acharya has been awarded the 'Padma Shree Sadhana Samman'. The Khemlal Harikala Lamichhane Foundation presented the award to Acharya with Rs 300,000 cash during a function on Wednesday.

The songs like 'Jiban Bhanu Ta Ghat Chha', 'Mutu Jali Rahechha Yo Mann Gali Rahechha', 'Jati Chot Dinchhau Deu Mayalu', 'Sabai Behosi Nasa Piyera', 'Hajar Aankha Herne Meri Mayalu Lai', 'Bhulnai Sakina Tyo Kshan Milan Ko', 'Jaha Chhan Budhha Ka Aankha' among other hundreds of songs are hits. Acharya, who is also a lyricist, singer, and musician, has sung hymns, modern songs, ghazals, and national anthems. His famous hymns 'Tann Mann Bachan Le Prabhu Naam Gaun', 'Ek Din Maile Prabhu Sanga Sodhe' are popular. Acharya, who is also known as a hero of easy music, had to lose his tongue in an accident in 2046 BS. Then his singing journey came to an end.

At the same event, Keshab Dahal, a writer from 'Moksha Bhumi', received the 'Padma Shree' award from literature. Dahal also received a prize of Rs 300,000 cash.
